Alfred H. Kroening September 3, 1937-February 17, 2014 Mr. Alfred H. Kroening, 76, of Michigan City, Indiana, died Monday February 17, 2014 at Hospice Franciscan Communities in Michigan City, IN. He was born September 3, 1937 in Michigan City, Indiana, the son of Alfred B. Kroening and Frieda (Wilkie) Kroening. Alfred worked for New York Blower. He was a member of Lambs Chapel United Methodist Church, a volunteer fireman for Springfield Twp., and Teamster Union Stewart. He enjoyed hunting, camping, fishing and especially enjoyed spending time with his family. . On June 20, 1964, in Michigan City, IN, he married Marjorie (Swanson) Kroening who preceded him in death December 28, 2011. He is survived by his daughter - Debra Ritchie of Michigan City, IN; son - Terry Kroening of CA; daughter - Rita Hooper of Michigan City, IN; step-son - Joseph (Brenda) Hooper of La Porte, IN; eight grandchildren; twenty-six great grandchildren, and one great great-grandchildren; brother - Wallace Kroening of La Porte, IN, two sisters - Doris Kroening of La Porte, IN, and Ema Jean Shultz of La Porte, IN. Alfred was preceded in death by his parents, and wife. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN There will be no visitation. A life celebration will be held at Lambs Chapel United Methodist Church, Friday, February 28, 2014 at 1:00 pm with Rev. Jay Loucks officiating. Burial of ashes will follow at the Lambs Chapel Cemetery, LaPorte, Indiana. A Military Service will be conducted by the LaPorte Honor Guard of LaPorte.
