Carl E. Holt July 5, 1944-May 13, 2014 Mr. Carl E. Holt, 69, of Rolling Prairie, Indiana, died Tuesday May 13, 2014 at his home. He was born July 5, 1944 in Lebanon, Kentucky, the son of Gilbert Holt and Anna (Rice) Holt and was a life long resident of the La Porte area. Carl worked for Teledyne Casting Service for over 30 years. He was a member of First Church of God. Carl was a Veteran of the US Army during Vietnam and a member of the Rolling Prairie VFW Post 9423. He was a former minister and taught Sunday School at the local nursing homes for many years. Carl's hobby was cutting wood. On December 22, 1965, in Honolulu, HA, he married Lynda K. Butcher Holt who preceded him in death December 27, 2012. He is survived by his daughter, Amber (Don) Hughes of La Porte, IN; son, Carl (Debbie) Holt of Mishawaka, IN; five grandchildren, Brittney Holt, Kayelah Wilkins, Jourdann Holt, Steven Holt, Camilla Holt; great grandchild, Keven Wilkins; two brothers, Frank Holt, Westley Holt; and a sister, Doris Kaskey. Carl was preceded in death by his parents, wife, three sisters and 1 brother. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends Sunday, May 18, 2014 from 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm and Monday, May 19, 2014 10:00 am until time of the service at the First Church of God. A life celebration will be held at church, Monday May 19, 2014 at 11:00 am with Pastor Roger Ash officiating. Interment will follow at the Rolling Prairie Cemetery, Rolling Prairie, Indiana.
