Clifford H. Halter February 19, 1928-June 21, 2014 Mr. Clifford H. Halter, 86, of Rolling Prairie, Indiana, died Saturday June 21, 2014 at his home. He was born February 19, 1928 in La Porte, Indiana, the son of Herschel Halter and Carrie (Stoner) Halter. Clifford was owner of Halter and Sons Excavating for 7 years, also worked 10 years for the LaPorte Co. Highway and 11 years at Woodruff and Sons. He was a graduate of Rolling Prairie High School. Clifford enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and yard work. On March 12, 1949, in LaPorte, IN, he married Leah (Stewart) Halter who preceded in death December 31, 2012. He is survived by his daughter, Carol Childress of Rolling Prairie, IN; son, Barry (Colleen) Halter of Rolling Prairie, IN; six grandchildren, Anne (Gary) Dumont, Eric Childress, Barry (Michelle) Halter, Jr., Kimberly (Chad) Fayette, Tara (Bleu) VanDyke, Ryan (Rachel) Halter; thirteen great-grandchildren, Michele, Chris, Alexandria, Weslie Ann, Kasey, Graham, Emily, Jill, and Isaac, Hannah, Jacob, Katie, Caleb, Hailey, Taylor, Lauryn and Austyn; one great-great-grandchild, William Grayson Rae; three sister-in-laws, and one brother-in-law. Clifford was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers, Dale, William Halter, and one sister, Donna Williamson. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 from 4:00 pm and 8:00 pm and on Thursday, June 26, 2014 from 10:00 am, until time of service. A life celebration will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, on Thursday, June 26, 2014 at 11:00 am with Pastor JoEllyn Chadwick, officiating. Interment will follow at the Oak Grove Cemetery, Mill Creek, Indiana.
