Curtis W. Popp May 5, 1946 - May 1, 2016 Curtis W. Popp age 69, peacefully passed away on Sunday, May 1, 2016. He is survived by his children, Wesley (Monica) Popp, Kimberly (Trevor Allen) Kennedy, Adam (Tiffany Lachmund) Popp and Nicholas (Lydia) Popp; granddaughters, Adriana (Luke) Sherrell, Michelle Popp and Emily Popp; sister, Pamela Robbins; brothers, Stanley (Connie) Popp and Tim Russell; fiancé, Pat English; many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Preceded in death by his parents, Stanley A. Popp and Gladys E. Bass; step father, Duane Russell; step brother, Douglas Russell and infant sister, Robin Russell. Curtis was born and raised in LaPorte, Indiana, and was a 1965 graduate of Elston Senior High School. He retired after 36 years as a machinist/maintence at Sullair. He was a Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Force during Vietnam with the 410th Bomb Wing and later with 347th FMS. He worked with the Coast Guard Auxiliary in Michigan City, where he taught classes and was a patrolman. He was a long time member of the New Buffalo Rod and Gun Club. He loved fishing, hunting, trapshooting, wine making, and enjoyed retirement to the fullest. Curtis was a loving son, father, grandfather, and friend to many who will truly be missed by all whose lives he touched. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2016 10:00 AM at Haverstock Funeral Home 602 Maple Avenue LaPorte, IN with Rev. Anthony Fields officiating. Interment to follow at Carmel Cemetery, LaPorte, IN. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Friday, May 6, 2016 from 4:00-8:00 PM at the funeral home.
