Danial R. Bolinger September 1, 1947-May 23, 2017 Mr. Danial R Bolinger, 69, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Tuesday May 23, 2017 at Settlers House in La Porte, IN. He was born September 1, 1947 in La Porte, Indiana, the son of Stephen Bolinger and Dollafa (Kammerer) Bolinger. Daniel graduated from La Porte High School in 1965, DeVry Tech in 1967 and Purdue in 1976. He was a retired Probation Officer with the La Porte County Probations Office for 37 years. He attended the First United Methodist Church and was a member of Excelsior Lodge #41 of La Porte FandAM, La Porte York Rite, White Shrine of Jerusalem, Sierra Club, very active in the Boy Scouts for over 60 years, National Wildlife Federation, La Porte County chapter of Drug Free America, life member of the Indiana Correctional Association, a board of director of the La Porte County Historical Society and was a genealogist, he served on the La Porte City Council from 1980 - 1984. He is survived by his sister, Shirley Dowell of Rancho Cucamonga, CA; Two Nieces, Cindy (Mike) Thomas of Warsaw, IN, Shirley (Jason) Fleming of Warsaw, IN; three nephews, Stephen Bolinger of Pierceton, IN, Greg (Heather) Dowell of Rancho Cucamonga, CA, Bradford Kevin Dowell of Rancho Cucamonga, CA; 12 great nieces and nephews; and friend, Michael (Connie) Feikes of Seattle, WA. Danial was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Stephen Bolinger, and a nephew, Michael Dowell. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends Monday, May 29, 2017, 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm. A Masonic Service will be held Monday at 5:00 PM at the funeral home. A life celebration will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Tuesday, May 30, 2017, at 10:30 am with Pastor Robert Vale officiating. Interment will follow at the Rossville Cemetery, Rossville, IN. Memorial contributions may be made to the Boy Scouts of America or Dunes Hospice.
