Eleanor Pliske

Eleanor J. Pliske August 17, 1927-August 12, 2016 Mrs. Eleanor J. Pliske, 88, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Friday August 12, 2016 at VNA Hospice Center in Valparaiso, IN. She was born August 17, 1927 in Pine Township, Indiana, the daughter of Ernest Welkie and Bertha (Gruenke) Welkie. Eleanor was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church. She a member of the La Porte Hospital Auxiliary. Eleanor volunteered at the La Porte Hospital for over 33,000 hours over a 50 year period. On June 23, 1951, in Michigan CIty, IN, she married Richard E. Pliske who preceded in death March 28, 2003. She is survived by her daughter, Dawn (Jeff) Dunifon of La Porte, IN; son, Richard D. (Tina) Pliske; 4 granddaughters, Michelle Dunifon Shirk, Melissa Dunifon Shearon, Amy Pliske Shinn, Megan Pliske Thomas; several great grandchildren, Dylan, Olivia, Madelyn, Mason, Jaidan, Aaliyah, Brooke, Brody; and a brother Richard (Patricia) Welkie. Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents, husband, grandson Sgt. Christopher Pliske USMC and a brother. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN Private family services will be held.
