Eugene Miller

Eugene "Bud" R. Miller, 80, of Rolling Prairie, IN, passed away on Sunday June 12, 2011 at Millers Merry Manor-New Carlisle. He was born August 11, 1930 in Rolling Prairie, Indiana, the son of Benjamin J. Miller and Myrtle (Wallace) Miller. Eugene "Bud", retired after thirty years of working at Hunt's Plumbing. He was a member of First Christian Church of Rolling Prairie, a charter member of the VFW of Rolling Prairie. Eugene was a Veteran of the US Army during the Korean War, receiving a Bronze Star. He enjoyed visiting with friends and liked fishing. Eugene played Santa Claus for fifty years for various organizations. On July 22, 1951, in Rolling Prairie, IN, he married Shirley (Kelsey) Miller, who preceded in death on September 25, 1984. He remarried on November 11, 1989 in Rolling Prairie, Indiana to Fay (Hicks) Miller, who preceded on March 4, 2005. He is survived by his daughter - Pam Miller of Knox, IN; son - Gary Miller of Michigan City, IN; four grandchildren - Ben, Lindsey, Rochelle and Emily; three step-sons - Dwayne Heddens of La Porte, IN, Mike (Kathy) Heddens of Three Rivers, MI, and Tim (Mary) Heddens of Sulphur Springs, TX; two step-daughters - Irma (Frank) Rice of South Bend, IN, Debra (Steve) Osborne of Michigan City, IN; twin sister - Norma Hutts of Rolling Prairie, IN; sister - Betty Smith of Temple City, CA, and brother - Jerry (Linda) Miller of Rolling Prairie, IN.; several nieces and nephews and two special great-nieces, Tyler and Brayden. Eugene "Bud" was preceded in death by his parents, 1st wife, Shirley Miller, 2nd wife, Fay Miller, brother-in-law, John Hutts, brother-in-law, Grady Smith. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. where the family will receive friends Wednesday, June 15, 2011 from 9:00 am, until time of service. Services will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Wednesday June 15, 2011 at 11:00 am with Rev. Ransom Ebersole officiating. A Military Service will be conducted by the Rolling Prairie VFW at the cemetery. Interment will follow at the Rolling Prairie Cemetery, Rolling Prairie, IN.
