Flo Vester Sept. 4, 1914- Mar. 3, 2015 Mrs. Flo Vester, 100, of La Porte, Indiana, died Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at Golden Living Center Countryside in La Porte. She was born Sept. 4, 1914, in Pleasantville, Indiana, the daughter of Ralph Dugan and Clara (Esslinger) Dugan. Flo was a lifetime caregiver to all of her family, neighbors and military men and women. She raised her brothers and sisters, then a full time mother and caregiver to her children. Flo never met a stranger. She was a member of the Women's Association Bowling League. She enjoyed bowling, spending time with family and grandchildren. She loved to travel to Las Vegas, Minnesota and Europe. On September 30, 1933, in Marshall, Illinois she married Robert W. Vester who preceded in death on January 31, 1979. She is survived by 4 daughters Barbara Smeltzer, Laura King both of La Porte; Helen Brown of South Bend, IN; Betty (Bruce) Burkhardt of Houston TX; son-in-law Edward Lowdenslager of La Porte; 14 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; many great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Mary Lowdenslager, 2 brothers Gene Dugan, Ralph Dugan, 3 sisters, Waneta Purcell; Laura Thompson, and Pauline Miller. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, where the family will receive friends from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm Saturday March 7, 2015. A life celebration will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 7, 2015 with Pastor JoEllyn Chadwick officiating. Interment will follow in Patton Cemetery, La Porte.
