Helen Elshire April 4, 1925-January 23, 2014 Mrs. Helen Elshire, 88, of LaPorte, Indiana, died Thursday January 23, 2014 at Indiana University Health La Porte Hospital in La Porte, IN. She was born April 4, 1925 in Windber, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Charles Orsagos and Katherine (Kormak) Orsagos. Helen was owner/operator of Helen's Beauty Salon and Apparel for 19 years, retiring in 1977. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, Bethany Quilters, and VFW Auxiliary. Helen enjoyed playing bingo, cards and traveling. She enjoyed participating with husband's marathon. Helen especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.. On January 14, 1945, in Miami, FL, she married Robert G. Elshire who preceded her in death August 18, 1993. She is survived by her son - Robert (Diana) Elshire of Avon Park, FL; 3 daughters - Connie (John) Williams of Sonora, CA, Denise (Mike) Cannon of Rolling Prairie, IN, Billie (John) Pappas of La Porte, IN; 11 grandchildren - Daniel (Rachel) Swanson, Robert (Robin) Elshire, Tim (Jill) Elshire, Todd (Keri) Cannon, Andrea Cannon, Ian Pappas, Andrew (Katie) Pappas, Graham Pappas; step-grandchildren - Jeff Williams, Eric (Terri) Williams, Steve (Michelle) Williams; twenty-two great-grandchildren; brother - Thomas Orsagos of Largo, FL, and sister - Ann Simone of San Diego, CA Helen was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four sisters, and grandchild, Nathan Elshire. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN The family will receive friends at the Bethany Lutheran Church on Saturday, February 8, 2014 from 10:00 am, until time of service. A Memorial Service will be held at Bethany Lutheran Church on Saturday, February 8, 2014 at 11:00 am with Rev. Dennis Meyer, officiating.
