Jim D. Anderson September 1, 1947 - August 19, 2016 Jim D. Anderson age 68 of La Porte passed away August 19, 2016 with his loving family by his side. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary Jo (nee Zeidler) Anderson; children, Michael Vernon (Jodi) Anderson, Jolie Michele (Steven) Pavent and Jill Marie (Phil) White; grandchildren, Bryce Holland, Mason Anderson, Caden Anderson, Keegan Anderson, Brody White, Paige White and Quinn White; sister, Cile (Tim) Konowitz; many nieces, nephews and scores of friends. Preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Marcile Anderson. Jim was born and raised in La Porte and was a 1966 graduate of La Porte High School. On September 10, 1966, he married Mary Jo Zeidler in Michigan City, IN. He served our country in the US Army during the Vietnam War. Jim was the founder and operator of Anderson's Automotive in La Porte for over 35 years. He was a founding member of the Maple City Street Cruisers. Jim was a boat, car and motorcycle enthusiast owning many classic cars and street rods over the years. He was an avid Bears fan and had been a season ticket holder for over 35 years. Jim enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren attending their many activities. Jim was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be truly missed by all whose lives he touched. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Haverstock Funeral Home 602 Maple Avenue La Porte, IN with Pastor William R. Barnes officiating. Cremation to follow. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 from 5:00-9:00 PM and on Wednesday morning from 10:00 AM until time of service at the funeral home.
