Joan Heaps

Joan A. Heaps November 17, 1934-January 1, 2015 Mrs. Joan A. Heaps, 80, of La Porte, Indiana, died Thursday January 1, 2015 at Indiana University Health La Porte Hospital. She was born November 17, 1934 in Tracy, Indiana, the daughter of Wayne E. Peeples and MaryAnn. (Thompson) Peeples. Joan was a substitute teacher for LaPorte School Corp., and was a member of the Door Village United Methodist Church, helping with many activities. Joan loved to cook, and was an avid seamstress. She was an example to her family and grandchildren on how to live a fruitful and strong life. Joan loved her family and grandchildren, very much. She was married to Kenneth Heaps, they were to celebrate their 60th anniversary in June of 2015. She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Heaps of LaPorte, IN., two sons, Shawn (Debra) Heaps of La Porte, IN, Christopher (Karen) Heaps of Winter Springs, FL; daughter, Kennetha (David) Eikelberg of Oviedo, FL; seven grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. Joan was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Daniel Peeples, Gene E. Peeples, and one sister, Georgia Ann Peeples. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, IN. There will be no visitation. A Graveside service will be held on Sunday, January 4, 2014, at 2:00 pm at the Kingsbury Cemetery. Interment will follow at the Kingsbury Cemetery.
