Joan Florence Kirkham November 10, 1926-December 7, 2014 Mrs. Joan Florence Kirkham, 88, of La Porte, Indiana, died Sunday December 7, 2014 at Miller's Health and Rehab in LaPorte, IN. She was born November 10, 1926 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Walter Lieber and Lula (Hurt) Lieber. Joan worked as a operator for General Telephone and LaPorte High School food service. Joan enjoyed gardening, and the LaPorte Radio Station, she loved her cats. Joan loved her family with all her heart and stayed very close to them all. On September 7, 1946, in LaPorte, IN, she married Jack Kirkham who preceded her in death November 30, 1986. She is survived by her four daughters, Karen (Bruce) Todd of La Porte, IN, Kathy (Jerry) Mazur of La Porte, IN, Kay Ford of Michigan City, IN, Korene (Jerry) Heying of Laveen, AZ; sister, Linda Reeves of Homewood, IL; seven grandchildren, Becky Kirkham, Jenny Mazur-McCombs, Brian Mazur, Julie Sparks, Rachel Heying-Edwards, Stephanie Brown, Laurie Todd; five great-grandchildren, Teanna Sparks, Jahmal Sparks, Chloe Smith, Addison Mazur, Trenton Walkling; four great-great grandchildren, Tejah Sparks, Malcomb Davis, Justice Truelove, Faith Truelove. Joan was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant daughter, Carol Kirkham, and one sister, Dolores Kirkham. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends Friday, December 12, 2014, from 10:00 am until time of service. A Memorial Service will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Friday December 12, 2014 at 12:00 pm with Pastor Jeff Hines officiating. Burial of ashes will follow at the Patton Cemetery, LaPorte, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to the LaPorte Co. Animal Shelter 2855 W. Ind. 2 LaPorte, IN 46350.
