Mae Schroeder

Mae S. Schroeder June 20, 1934-January 26, 2015 Mae Schroeder, age 80, of LaPorte Indiana, passed away on Monday Jan. 26 at her home on 250 N. in LaPorte. Mae was born on June 20 in 1934 in Gary Indiana to the late Casimir and Regina Linkowski. She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years Robert G. Schroeder, son Daniel R. Schroeder and nephew Jeffrey Linkowski. Mae is survived by her daughters Susan Booth of Williamston Michigan, Holly Schroeder of Chicago, sisters Carol Kopenec, Judy Zielinski, many nieces and nephews, granddaughters Kristina and Alyssia Booth and dear friends Phyllis Mickelson, Christine Graham, Ellie Heidel, Donna and Amy Burris, Mary Tobar and her beloved dachshund Ruby. Mae will be remembered for her incredible sense of humor, devotion to the animal kingdom and outgoing nature. An animal lover since childhood, she raised and showed basset hounds for 45 years. She was an active member of the Basset Hound Club of America as well as LaPorte, South Bend and Valparaiso Kennel Clubs. She was also an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church for 60 years. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends Friday, January 30, 2015, from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm and Saturday, January 31, 2015, at St. John's Lutheran Church from 9:30 am, until time of service. A life celebration will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church, Saturday January 31, 2015 at 10:30 am with Rev. Aaron Kretzschmar officiating. Interment will follow at the Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte, Indiana. Memorial contributions in her name may be directed to the National Wildlife Federation, Humane Society of America and LaPorte County Animal Shelter.
