Mary Cuson

Mary Louise Cuson April 7, 1931-October 16, 2017 Mrs. Mary Louise Cuson , 86, of Mill Creek, Indiana, passed away Monday October 16, 2017 at in Mill Creek, IN. She was born April 7, 1931 in Pleasant Twp. the daughter of Howard Kessler and Amelia (Felton) Kessler. Mary was a homemaker most of life and loved to cook, she also worked as a librarian for the LaPorte Co. Library Fish Lake branch. Mary was a woman who loved three things with all her heart: her family, her friends and neighbors, and cooking. She was happiest with her family. Anytime that she could see everyone together, her heart was full. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her the most happiness and during family functions, she could often be seen sitting back, watching the chaos, a smile on her face. That is what she lived for. The definition of a neighbor is a person who shows kindliness or helpfulness toward his or her fellow humans. That was Mary. She was always there to help anyone in need. Whether you were a seed salesman or just a friend stopping in If you walked through her door, you walked back out with a full stomach and a smile. She took great pride in her cooking and truly enjoyed making the thresher's dinner every noon for the guys as they worked in the fields. Taking care of others was almost always done through food, which had healing properties. If someone passed away, make a casserole, take it over and visit for a few minutes. Grandkid home sick? Cup-a-Soup, Saltines, Diet Coke and orange juice coming your way. Her cooking was legendary and magical. She was capable of taking the most basic ingredients and making the most amazing meal you've ever tasted. Her lasagna, spaghetti and sugar cookies will live on forever through her handwritten, battered recipes, which the family will cherish for years to come. To know her was to love her. And love her we did. On October 14, 1950, in LaPorte, IN, she married John Cuson who survives. She is also survived by her four sons, John L. Cuson of Mill Creek, IN, Joseph T. (Joan) Cuson of Rolling Prairie, IN, Jerry R. (Lori) Cuson of Mill Creek, IN, James O. (Sandra) Cuson of Mill Creek, IN; , ten grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; sister, Shirley (Dick) Peckham of La Porte, IN. Mary was preceded in death by her parents three sisters, and three brothers.
