Maud Crites

Maud Louisa Crites November 29, 1924-November 6, 2017 Maud Louisa Crites, 92, of Union Mills, Indiana, passed away Monday, November 6, 2017 at Indiana University Health La Porte Hospital. She was born November 29, 1924 in Lutesville, Missouri, the daughter of Leander Null and Louisa (Beel) Null. Maud retired in 1987 after 18 years working for Bonnie Bakery. She was a member of Eastern Star, Methodist Women, AARP, and Tracy United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening and quilting, she made over one hundred hand made quilts, but most of all she was known for her homemade donuts. Everyone knew her as "Grandma Donuts". On February 16, 1944, in Corning, Arkansas, she married Clayton L. Crites who preceded in death January 1, 2008. She is survived by her daughter, Donna Burkett of Leesburg, FL; Seven Grandchildren, Scott McGovern, James McGovern, Michelle Jarka, Keith Crone, Jacob Crone, Matthew Crone, Zachary Crone; thirteen great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; sister, Melba Huffman of McClure, IL; brother, Louis Null of Marbel Hill, MO. Maud was preceded in death by both her parents and husband; daughter, Judy Harville, five sisters, Mildred VanGennip, Claira Ford, Dorothy Woodfin, Alma Carpenter, Elise Crites, brother, John Null. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, Indiana where the family will receive friends Friday, November 10, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, November 11, 2017, 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. A life celebration will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Saturday, November 11, 2017 at 10:00 am with Rev. Dorothy Jones officiating.
