Norma Jean Irwin July 10, 1934-August 8, 2013 Mrs. Norma Jean Irwin , 79, of La Porte, Indiana, died Thursday August 8, 2013 at Indiana University Health La Porte Hospital in La Porte, IN. She was born July 10, 1934 in Menominee, Michigan, the daughter of Leonard Bright and Leta (Klontz) Bright. Norma Jean had worked for American Home Foods, retiring in 1979. She was a very proud union worker, she liked playing cards, and enjoyed participating in political events. On November 25, 1951, in LaPorte, IN, she married Charles O. Irwin who preceded her in death April 1, 2000. She is survived by her 2 daughters - Susan (Michael) Mollenhauer of La Porte, IN, and Charla Orcutt of La Porte, IN; 6 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren; 6 sisters - Fern (Larry) Duffrin of NV, Mary (Dean) Waracr of MI, Marty (Speace) Bichel of KS, Wendy Sloan of TX, Susie Erickson of MO, Rose (Malcolm) Boyd of South Bend, IN; 2 brothers - Leonard (Terri) Bright of ID, and Tommy (Mary Lynn) Bright of CA. Norma was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Charles; grandson, Eric, and sister, Bernice. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends Monday, August 12, 2013 from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm and Tuesday, August 13, 2013 10:00 am, until time of service. A life celebration will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Tuesday August 13, 2013 at 11:00 am with Rev. Jeff Zigler, officiating. Interment will follow at the Patton Cemetery, LaPorte, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army 3240 Monroe Street LaPorte, Indiana 46350.
