Phyllis Marquardt

Phyllis R. Marquardt July 10, 1928-February 22, 2015 Mrs. Phyllis R. Marquardt, 86, of La Porte, Indiana, died Sunday February 22, 2015 at Miller's Health and Rehab in LaPorte, IN. She was born July 10, 1928 in La Porte, Indiana, the daughter of Harry Peterson and Bessie (Francis) Peterson. Phyllis retired from the International Department of Scott-Foresman and Co. after 15 years of service. She was a member of Salem United Church of Christ of Wanatah, IN and a former member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ of La Porte and a member of the women's group of the church. On February 15, 1947, in La Porte, IN, she married Russell W. Marquardt who preceded in death December 30, 2008. She is survived by her daughter, Becky (Larry) Pierce of Kingsford Heights, IN; son, William (Peggy) Marquardt of La Porte, IN; eleven grandchildren; many great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; a brother, Garland Peterson of La Porte, IN; and many nieces and nephews. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, son, Curt Marquardt, four brothers, Lawrence Peterson, Robert Peterson, Harry Peterson, and Gordon Peterson. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends Wednesday, February 25, 2015, from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm and Thursday, February 26, 2015, from 9:00 am until time of the service. A life celebration will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Thursday February 26, 2015 at 10:00 am with Rev. Carol Nordstrom officiating. Interment will follow at the Patton Cemetery, LaPorte, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salem United Church of Christ, Prayer Shawl ministries.
