Ruth Nordahl

Ruth M. Nordahl, 89, of New Carlisle, IN, died on Monday, July 18, 2011 at Hamilton Communities in New Carlisle, IN. She was born April 7, 1922 in Gary, Indiana, the daughter of Cassemer Stolberg and Mary (Holmstrom) Stolberg. Ruth worked fifteen years for Easy Heat in New Carlisle, retiring in 1980. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church. Ruth loved the Chicago White Sox, and was a Purdue sports fan. She was a violinist for the Gary Symphony. Ruth enjoyed entertaining, and gardening. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren. On August 10, 1946, in Gary, IN, she married Kenneth Nordahl who preceded in death February 20, 2006. She is survived by her son - Timothy (Elaine) Nordahl of Glen Ellyn, IL; two daughters - Christine (Tim) Gesse of La Porte, IN, Rebecca (Ron) Hicks of Houston, TX; four grandchildren - David Nordahl of Chicago, IL, Beverly (Jagu) Nanduri of Cincinnati, OH, Jonathan (Suzy) Gesse of Rolling Prairie, IN, and Jennifer Gesse of Indianapolis, IN. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, husband, baby daughter, one brother, Harry, and one sister, Eleanor. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. A private family service will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Friday, July 22, 2011 at 10:00 am with Pastor Jo Ellyn Chadwick officiating. Interment will follow at the Rolling Prairie Cemetery, Rolling Prairie, IN. Memorial contributions may be made to the Donor's Choice.
