Shirley Arlene Groth August 21, 1935-July 7, 2013 Mrs. Shirley Arlene Groth, 77, of LaPorte, Indiana, died Sunday July 7, 2013 at Golden Living Center Fountainview in LaPorte, IN. She was born August 21, 1935 in La Porte, Indiana, the daughter of Jeffrey Wilhelm. Shirley trained horses and dogs. She enjoyed teaching people, and doing crafts. Shirley enjoyed cooking and especially enjoyed spending time with her family. She is survived by her daughter - Carla (James) Eikelberg of LaPorte, IN; grandchildren - Alex, Joshua, Jacob and Hannah; sister - Dorothy Layman of Rolling Prairie, IN; brother - Frank Wilhelm of LaPorte, IN; and several nieces and nephews. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and son, Roger Groth. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN A Memorial Service will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Thursday July 11, 2013 at 2:30 pm with Pastor Jo Ellyn Chadwick officiating.
