Thomas Ostrowski

Thomas D. Ostrowski March 7, 1915-December 15, 2013 Mr. Thomas D. Ostrowski, 98, of New Carlisle, Indiana, died Sunday December 15, 2013 at his home. He was born March 7, 1915 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Stanley Ostrowski and Agnes (Michalski) Ostrowski. Thomas worked as a truck driver for General Rendering, retiring in 1974. He was a member of the St. John Kanty Catholic Church. Thomas enjoyed wood-carving, and was a die-hard White Sox fan. Thomas enjoyed gardening and lawnwork. He won the Terre Verde Award through LaPorte Savings Bank. Thomas enjoyed smoking his pipe, while sitting outside in the sun with his dogs. On December 5, 1936, in Berwyn, IL, he married Grace H. (Luetgert) Ostrowski who preceded him in death March 16, 2011. He is survived by his son - Terrance (Jeong Sook) Ostrowski of Alsip, IL; 3 daughters - Patricia (John) Duignan of Chicago, IL, Judi Grabowski of Warner Robbins, GA , and Maryanne Ostrowski of New Carlisle, IN; twenty-one grandchildren, twenty-nine great grandchildren, and one great grandchild on the way. Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son, Thomas Ostrowski, grandson, Daniel and two sisters, Adeline and Connie. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends Wednesday, December 18, 2013 from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm. A life celebration will be held at St. John Kanty Catholic Church, Thursday December 19, 2013 at 10:00 am with Rev. Michael Heimer officiating. Interment will follow at the St. John Kanty Cemetery, Rolling Prairie, Indiana. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Shriner's Children Hospital 2211 N.
