Vernon Markley

Vernon Ray Markley, 80, of New Carlisle, IN, died Saturday, May 21, 2011 at Hamilton Communities, Inc. in New Carlisle, IN. He was born February 27, 1931 in Goshen, Indiana, the son of Ira Markley and Marie (Elliot) Romig. Vernon worked as a Plumber for Dye Plumbing and Heating. He was a member of Plumber & Pipe fitters local 172. Vernon's greatest joy was fishing. He also loved gardening and doing yard work. He was also a big fan of NASCAR. Vernon served in the US Army during the Korean War from 1951-1953. On July 13, 1952 in Rolling Prairie, IN he married Lois (Martensen) Markley who survives. He is also survived by his 2 sons - Steven (Ericka) Markley of Fort Wayne, IN, Alan (Susan ) Markley of New Carlisle, IN; 2 daughters - Theresa (Dan ) Vermillion of Noblesville, IN, Nanette (Harry Jr. ) Dudeck of New Carlisle, IN; 8 Grandchildren - Jack Vermillion, Kamryn Vermillion, Angela Baker, Justin Markley, Scott Mackey, Sarah Markley, Benjamin Markley, Stephani Dudeck; Step - Grandchild - Harlan Julian; great-grandson - Bryce Baker; great-granddaughter - Alexa Baker; 2 step-great-grandsons - Gregory Robb, Grant Robb; half-brother - Edward Franz of Fort Meyers, IN; 2 half-sisters - Annabelle Reeze of Tippecanoe, IN, Jackie Honcarenko of Bristol, IN. Vernon was preceded in death by his parents, brother- Howard Markley, and half-brother- Charles Romig. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. where the family will receive friends Tuesday, May 24, 2011 from 3:00 pm - 8:00 pm cst & Wednesday, May 25, 2011 from 10:00am cst until the time of the service. Services will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at 11:00 am cst with Rev. Donald Bayne officiating.
