Viola Ludtke

Viola M. Ludtke July 8, 1921-May 15, 2013 Mrs. Viola M. Ludtke, 91, of Walkerton, Indiana, died Wednesday May 15, 2013 at Indiana University Health La Porte Hospital. She was born July 8, 1921 in La Porte, Indiana, the daughter of Alfred Harness and Adeline (Shultz) Harness. Viola worked thirty-four years for the LaPorte Community Schools. She was a home economics club member and enjoyed being in bowling leagues. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, cooking, and especially spending time with her grandchildren. On January 18, 1941, in Knox, IN, she married Louis Ludtke who preceded her in death December 9, 1985. She is survived by her 3 daughters - Carol (John) McDaniel of Walkerton, IN, Beulah (Oreste, Jr.) Lantero of Trimble, MO, Sandra (Wolfgang) Sorg of Mill Creek, IN; 2 grandsons - James A. Burkhart of Chesterton, IN, Dean Lantero of Winston Salem, NC; 3 granddaughters - Brenda (Bruce) Britton of La Porte, IN, Dawn Lantero of Yukon, OK, Wendy Sorg of Greenwood, IN; 1 great-grandaughter - Chayton Burkhart of Chesterton, IN, and 1 great-grandson, James R. Burkhart of Chesterton, IN; brother - Alfred Harness of Kingsford Heights, IN., and several nieces and nephews. Viola was preceded in death by her parents, husband, grandson, Roger A. Burkhart, 4 brothers, Ed, Woodrow, Fenton, and Herman Harness, and 4 sisters, Gladys Fisher, Agnes Moore, Ethel Bent, and Geneva Buzalski. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends Sunday, May 19, 2013 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm and Monday, May 20, 2013 from 10:00 am, until time of service. A life celebration will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Monday May 20, 2013 at 11:00 am with Rev. Steve Laue, officiating. Interment will follow at the Salem Cemetery, LaPorte, Indiana.
