Walter Strakowski

Walter A. Strakowski, Jr., 83, of LaPorte, IN, passed away Thursday, May 5, 2011 at Indiana University Health La Porte Hospital in La Porte. He was born December 9, 1927 in Michigan City, Indiana, the son of Walter A. Strakowski, Sr. and Frances (Rozinski) Strakowski. Walter worked as a sub-station electrician for NIPSCO, retiring January 1, 1988. He was a member of United Methodist Church of Rolling Prairie. Walter owned Michiana Motors. He enjoyed working on cars. On December 30, 1950, in LaPorte Co, he married Doris A. Menke Strakowski who survives. He is also survived by his daughter - Cathy (David) Reese of La Porte, IN; three brothers - Robert Strzalkowski of La Porte, IN, James Strakowski of Michigan City, IN, and Richard Strakowski of Nappanee, IN; two sisters - Elizabeth Strakowski of Michigan City, IN, and Virginia Kroening of La Porte, IN; he is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Walter was preceded in death by his parents. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. There will be no visitation. Cremation will take place.
