Zela Rich

Zela May Rich, 95, of LaPorte, IN, passed away on Tuesday June 28, 2011 at her home. She was born April 10, 1916 in Jefferson Co., Illinois, the daughter of Howard Cunningham and Nancy (Rutter) Cunningham. Zela was a member of the Masonic Eastern Star. Zela enjoyed spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. On March 24, 1934, in Benton, IL, she married Elliott W. Rich who preceded her in death December 4, 2002. She is survived by her daughter - Kay (Malcolm) Werner of Union Mills, IN; three grandchildren - Sandra (David) Manring, Linda Lindsey, Michael Harper; seven great grandchildren, Michelle (Roger) Hefright, Aaron England, Stephanie Bollinger, Sarah McFadden, Nickolas Lindsey, Nathan Lindsey, Jacob Lindsey; four great great grandchildren - Matthew, Blake, Brody and Jaden, and several nieces and nephews. Zela was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, one daughter, two grandaughters, two sisters, and six brothers. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. There will be no visitation. A Graveside Service will be held at Crisel Cemetery, in Dahlgren, Illinois on Saturday July 2, 2011 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Robert Sefried, officiating. Interment will follow at the Crisel Cemetery.
