Our Caring Staff
As a locally owned funeral home, our team at Haverstock grew up right here in La Porte, giving us a deep, personal connection to the families we serve.
Committed to assisting you in commemorating your cherished one, we possess extensive experience in serving families from all backgrounds. We are accessible around the clock, reachable through email or phone, ensuring continuous support whenever you need it. With patience, compassion, and unwavering professionalism, our team remains dedicated and readily available to attend to your needs.

David J. Holm
Owner
David is a LaPorte native (LPHS Class of '07!) who became an owner of Haverstock in 2025. A Ball State University graduate with a background in Communication Studies, David brings both a business mind and a big heart to everything we do. His main focuses are business operations and Haverstock's preneed program.
His approach to funeral service is simple: ask the right questions, listen carefully, and create a service that truly reflects a life well lived. "We work very hard to make sure each service is a clear display of a life well lived," David says — and our families feel the difference.
What matters most to David? Kindness. Every single day.
"If someone is interacting with our funeral home, they are likely in one of the most trying times of their life. We have to do all that we can to make that time easier."
When he's not here, David is out exploring LaPorte with his wife, kids, and dogs — or grabbing dinner at Bistro on the Greens or Drift on Pine. He's a golfer, a skier, a concert-goer, and a proud member of this community.

Elizabeth Holm
Owner/Pre-Arranging Specialist
Elizabeth grew up in Denton, Texas, but she's found her calling right here in LaPorte (her husband's hometown). As an Owner and Pre-Arranging Specialist at Haverstock, she brings a background in nursing to a role that is, at its heart, about caring for people.
With a bachelor's degree from Texas Woman's University and a master's from the University of Texas-Arlington, Elizabeth spent her career learning to listen and advocate for others. That same instinct drives her preneed work today. She sits down with families to lift a weight from their shoulders before it ever has to fall.
"I consider preplanning the biggest gift someone can leave for their loved ones," she says.
Her guiding principles are simple: integrity, honesty, and kindness. She believes family needs always come first and that every family deserves to trust that their loved ones will be cared for with dignity and respect.
When she's not meeting with families, Elizabeth is spending time with her husband and kids, hitting the golf course, doing pilates, or planning their next trip. Around town, you'll find her at Drift on Pine for sunset or walking Kesling Park with friends and their dogs.

Emily Metcalf
Funeral Director
Emily Metcalf is a resident of Westville, formerly of Portage, who fell in love with someone from LaPorte. Emily is a graduate of Ball State University with studies in Psychology, Interpersonal Relations, and Sociology. Afterward, she attended Worsham College of Mortuary Science and at graduation earned the Jack Adams Award for highest marks in Restorative Art. Post grad, Emily returned to the Region where she met her now husband, Ian, and the LaPorte community.
Emily has been a licensed funeral director for seven years and has served a number of communities around Northwest Indiana. She feels the most pride from becoming a part of the LaPorte community. What Emily enjoys the most about the funeral profession is getting to know the families and loved ones she is lucky to serve and personalizing the funeral services and space.
Emily can be seen around town kayaking on Stone or Pine Lake with Ian or throwing pottery with the LaPorte Parks and Rec Dpt. At home Emily can be found gardening, watching the One Chicago franchise, or playing fetch with their dog, Brewster.
