Robert Herod

Robert J. Herod January 2, 1933-March 7, 2019 Robert J. Herod, 86, of La Porte, IN, passed away Thursday, March 7, 2019 at La Porte Hospital. He was born January 2, 1933 in Michigan City, Indiana, the son of Walter Herod and Mary (Jeschke) Herod. Robert retired in 1994, after 38 years as a truck driver, working for La Porte Transit. He loved his job driving truck and spending time traveling the country in his R.V. with his wife. On November 24, 1951, in La Porte, Indiana, he married Patricia (Helt) Herod who survives in La Porte. He is also survived by his son, Scott M. (Celia) Herod of New Carlisle, IN; two daughters, Gail L. Schroeder of North Liberty, IN, Sindee (Tony) Ramaekers of Rolling Prairie, IN; five grandchildren, Jennifer, Angie, Lesley, Lindsey, Kristen; eleven great-great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren. Robert was preceded in death by both his parents, son, Kent Herod; brother, Kenneth Herod. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, IN where the family will receive friends Saturday, March 9, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Internment will be held at a later date at the Patton Cemetery, La Porte, Indiana.
