Walter James Bealor March 23, 1934-February 27, 2017 Mr. Walter James Bealor, 82, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Monday February 27, 2017 at Indiana University Health La Porte Hospital in La Porte, IN. He was born March 23, 1934 in La Porte, Indiana, the son of the late Wayne and Ellen (Pointon) Bealor. Walt was a veteran of the United States Army during the Korean War. After his military service, he became a butcher for Ruge Meats for many years. Then began driving for Bulkmatic Transport and Phoenix Motor Express eventually retiring in 1995. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post #400 of Fish Lake, and a member of the Stillwell Rod & Gun Club. He enjoyed bowling and golfing. He was a Boy Scout leader, little league coach, and a dedicated fan of Chicago White Sox and Blackhawks. After his retirement, Walt and his wife enjoyed years of camping and sitting by the campfires with family and friends, eventually moving to Donna, Texas. There they enjoyed sightseeing trips and spending time with newfound friends where he began bowling on a Sr. Olympic League and won 2 gold medals, of which, he was very proud. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. On April 24, 1965, in La Porte, he married Elizabeth (Miller) Bealor who preceded him in death November 3, 2011. He is survived by his four sons, Walter E. (Marilyn) Bealor, Kevin Bealor, Thomas (Kim) Jackson, Jr., Karl (Melody) Jackson; three daughters, Dianne (Bruce) Allen, Deanna (Rick) Carlson, Tammy (TJ) Rehlander-Layden; fifteen grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; fifteen great great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and his beloved cat Miss Kitty. Walter was preceded in death by his parents, wife, grandson Jeremiah Pauff, granddaughter Paula Bealor, great granddaughter Mya Keeling, one sister, Margaret Shelby, and four brothers, Lester Bealor, Dennis Bealor, Philip Bealor, and Thomas Bealor. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends Thursday, March 2, 2017, 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm & Friday, March 3, 2017, 10:00 am until time of the service. A life celebration will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Friday March 3, 2017 at 11:00 am with Rev. Jack Balon officiating. Interment will follow at the Oak Grove Cemetery, Mill Creek, Indiana with full military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association 115 W.
