Alberdine Koch

Mrs. Alberdine B. Baird Koch, age 90, of Peru, Ind., died Friday, January 26, 2007, at Caring Hands Health Care Center in Peru, Ind. She was born in Marshall, Michigan on November 13, 1916. On August 29, 1936 in LaPorte, Indiana, she married William F. Koch, who preceded, March 7, 1996. Mrs. Koch was a homemaker and helped her husband run a Truck Farm, raising blueberries, strawberries, sweet corn and asparagus and flowers. Mrs. Koch was a member of Rolling Prairie Christian Church, Rolling Prairie, IN. and the First Baptist Church of LaPorte, IN. She was a 1935 Graduate of Stillwell High School, member of Golden Warriors, Kankakee Twp. Homemakers Club, active square dancer in early years, active in getting phone lines, mail service, and paved roads in the area, she started the Koch Family Reunions. Her and her husband built their own home, they were hard workers and very family oriented.. . She was the daughter of the late Robert Baird and the late Blanche Foster Baird. She is also preceded by her husband, William F. Koch; one daughter, Mrs. Janice Broda and two brothers. She is survived by her; One Daughter, Mrs. Shirley Ray Truhn of Galien, Mich.; One Son, Mr. Robert Sheila Koch of Peru, Ind. and eight grandchildren; Michael Broda, Karla Sroufe, Kathleen Dyer, Robert W. Koch, Kimberly Draughn, David Broda, Jennifer Chubb, and Laura Wilbur. Thirteen great-grandchildren, and Six great-great grandchildren Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind., where the family will receive friends from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM Thursday, February 1, 2007 and from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM Friday, February 2, 2007. Funeral service will be at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc. at 11:00 AM Friday, February 2, 2007 , Rev. Ransom Ebersole, officiating. Interment will be at Patton Cemetery in LaPorte, Ind. Memorials may be made to the Rolling Prairie First Christian Church of Rolling Prairie, IN., or St. Elizabeth Hospice of Lafayette, IN.
