Allen Alander

Mr. Allen Roger Alander, 65, of 403 E. Lincolnway, LaPorte, Indiana passed away June 10, 2004 at LaPorte Hospital. Born June 14, 1938 in Missoula, Montana to Gus and Ona Forsyth Alander, who preceded. He worked for Walter Oberholtzer Painting as a house painter for twenty years, retiring in 1990.Allen was a member of the painters union in South Bend, Indiana, American Legion Post #400 Fish Lake, collected can tops for the Shriners and was veteran of the US Air Force during peace time. Surviving are tree sons; Patrick Jennifer Alander, Bryan Alander and Michael Alander all of LaPorte, one daughter; Christine Alander Schroeder of Michigan City, Indiana, four brothers; Robert Lucille Alander of San Rafael, California, Frank Ellie Alander of Coos Bay, Oregon, Dalton Linda Alander of Santa Rosa, California, Larry Alander of Forestville, California, two former spouses; Beverly Alander and Helen Mathes both of LaPorte, four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A graveside service will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday June 14, 2004 at Salem Cemetery with Rev. Penelope Brown officiating. Also a military service will be conducted by the American Legion Post #400 of Fish Lake. Memorial contributions may be made to Shriner?s Hospital or the American Cancer Society.
