Barbara Lynn (Good) Fortin, age 65, of La Porte, passed away peacefully at Northwest Health-La Porte on Monday evening, June 1, 2026.

Born in South Bend, Indiana, on October 25, 1960, Barbara was the cherished daughter of the late Robert Good and Joella (Burdue) Good.

On June 16, 1978, she married the love of her life, Gene L. Fortin, beginning a devoted partnership that spanned nearly five decades. Together, they shared a lifetime of love, laughter, adventure, and countless treasured memories.

Barbara had a vibrant spirit and a joyful personality that drew people to her. She found great happiness in creating beautiful handmade jewelry, a craft that reflected her creativity and attention to detail. She enjoyed spending time playing her favorite Pogo games, traveling and camping with Gene, watching drag racing, and casting a line while fishing. Barbara had a passion for Barbie dolls which earned her the affectionate nickname "Barbie Doll" among her many friends.

For many years, Barbara worked at the service desk at Walmart in La Porte, where she became a familiar and friendly face to both customers and coworkers. Her kindness, willingness to help others, and warm smile left a lasting impression on those who knew her.

Above all, Barbara treasured the life she built with her husband and the relationships she shared with family and friends. She will be remembered for her loving heart, her playful spirit, and the joy she brought to everyday moments.

Surviving is her beloved husband of 47 years, Gene L. Fortin; and her faithful little companion, Angel, the treasured dog who brought her comfort, companionship, and unconditional love.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Good and Joella (BurdueGood.

A graveside service celebrating Barbara's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at Patton Cemetery in La Porte with Major Dale Simmons officiating.

Though Barbara's earthly journey has come to an end, the love she shared, the laughter she inspired, and the memories she created will remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Her gentle presence and joyful spirit will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
