Barbara Jackson, 79, of La Porte, IN, passed away Friday, May 1, 2020 at her home in La Porte.

She was born July 31, 1940 in Winamac, Indiana, the daughter of Edison and Alma (Miller) Jackson.

Barbara lived between La Porte and Chicago for many years, working as a legal secretary for several lawyers in Chicago. Upon retirement, she moved to Nashville for 10 years to pursue her second career in Country Western songwriting. She wrote a song which became a hit,"I Might Not Be Loved But I'm Wanted by The Law", played on her birthday in the Netherlands.

She is survived by her son, Gerald Minzey and his partner, Thomas Shudell of Chicago, IL ; two daughters, Gladyn Minzey of Clarksville, TN, Elizabeth "Liz" Teasley of Chicago, IL; brother, Cletus Jackson of North Judson, IN; sister, Pauline (Jack) Frasure of North Judson, IN; seven grandchildren, Tabitha, Collin, Caleb, Christina, Stephanie, Ricki, Savannah; three great-grandchildren, Waylon, Carter and Trace;

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Gareth Minzey ; brothers and sisters, Verla, Larry, Aldene, and Lonzo.

Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN.  Interment will take place at Highland Cemetery, North Judson, IN. near her son.
