Barbara J. Rosenbaum, age 83, a lifelong resident of LaPorte County, passed away on Monday, August 24, 2026.

Barbara was born on September 14, 1942 in Michigan City, IN to the Clarence and Audrey Sydow. She was a graduate of Elston High School, Class of 1960. Barbara married Randall J. Rosenbaum in 1967 and they spent 35 years together until his passing in 2002.

Barb had a talent for numbers. She was a natural with bookkeeping, budgeting, and banking. Her professional career was spent as a computer programmer and bookkeeper with several banking establishments including Citizen’s Bank, Horizon Bank, and Michigan City Savings and Loan.

Barb found immense joy in spending time with her family. She also enjoyed taking vacations to Disney World and Mackinac Island, while finding casinos all along the way. Barb and Randy enjoyed getting up early to take long walks together every day. Most of all, Barb really enjoyed gardening. She had a garden that thrived under her and Randy's careful attention, with her favorites including Gerbera Daisies and over 30 different varieties of hostas.

Barb’s devotion to her family, knack with numbers, love of plants and flowers, and enjoyment of the simple pleasures of life will be remembered and celebrated by her family, and those lucky enough to know and love her.

Barbara is survived by her sons Michael (Jill) Rosenbaum and Patrick (Lesa) Rosenbaum; grandchildren Laura (Brandon) Swangin, Jenna

Rosenbaum, Randall Rosenbaum, Stephanie (Josh) Leer, and Shannon (Christopher) Hotrum; great-grandchildren Wyatt, Braedyn, Carter, Beckham, Tyler, Landon, Trevor, Tanner, Zachary, and Trinity; her sister Jeanne Dugan, and several nieces and nephews.

Barbara is preceded in death by her husband Randy, parents Clarence and Audrey, two nephews Jeffrey Weaver & Richard Dugan, and her sister Sandra Heck.

Per Barbara’s wishes, a celebration of her life will be held privately with her family. Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
