Betty Schroeder

Mrs. Betty M. Schroeder, 79, of 211 Linden St., LaPorte, died Saturday, May 8, 2004, at 6:08 p.m. at La-Porte Hospital. She was born July 20, 1924, in La-Porte to Carl and Irene McCormick Nelson, and had lived all her life in LaPorte. Mrs. Schroeder was a homemaker and had worked as a sales clerk at Danner?s department store for 10 years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, LaPorte. On Oct. 21, 1944, in LaPorte, she married Lowell B. Schroeder, who died Sept. 27, 1991. Also preceding her in death were her parents; one daughter, Karen; two sisters, June Wilson and Norma Skinner; and one brother, Cecil Nelson. Surviving are one daughter, Judy Evans of LaPorte; one granddaughter, Shari Rose; two great-grandsons; three sisters, Joan Ren, Twila Sullivan and Gail Borkowski, all of LaPorte; and one brother, George Skinner of LaPorte. The funeral will be Tuesday at 4 p.m. at Haverstock Funeral Home, LaPorte, with Rev. Douglas Hadley officiating. Friends may call Tuesday from 2 p.m. until the service.
