LaPorte

Brian Keith Sherrod, age 58, of LaPorte, Indiana, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, March 20, 2026.

Born on December 31, 1967, in Chicago, Illinois, Brian was the beloved son of the late James Joseph Sherrod and Lillian Sherrod-Young. He spent his formative years in Michigan City, where he attended Barker Middle School and Elston High School. During his school years, Brian was active in athletics, enjoying baseball, basketball, and track—pursuits that reflected both his competitive spirit and his love of teamwork.

Brian was a man of many passions and simple joys. He was a self-proclaimed food connoisseur who delighted in good meals and shared experiences. He found relaxation in watching movies, took comfort in long walks, and was known for his remarkable memory—often recalling moments and details that others had long since forgotten. Above all, Brian was known for his strength, resilience, and what his loved ones fondly described as “a warrior’s spirit.”

At the center of Brian’s life was his family. He carried a deep and abiding love for his children and grandchildren, taking pride in each of them and cherishing the time they spent together. His presence, guidance, and unwavering love will remain a lasting legacy in their lives.

Brian is survived by his loving mother, Lillian Sherrod-Young; his siblings, Helen Rodriguez, Pepper Smith (Tony), Thomas Sherrod, Darrin Sherrod, Kevin Sherrod, Joseph Sherrod, and Daniel Sherrod; his fourteen children, Arlena, Brian Jr., Jordan, Angel, Brikeem, Brishuan, Brikea, Brian, Brikece, Brison, Briton, Brijanae, Brikiera, and Brielle; and nineteen cherished grandchildren. He is also survived by his partner and caregiver, Alyce Sheets, his lifelong best friend Eric Stanage, as well as many nieces and nephews who will remember him with love.

Brian’s life was one marked by strength, devotion, and enduring love for those closest to him. Though he is gone from this world, the impact he made and the memories he created will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

No services are planned at this time. A memorial service will be held at a later date, with details to be announced by the family.
