Bruce Allen Harris

May 8, 1954-July 14, 2025

Bruce Allen Harris, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on July 14, 2025, at Ignite Care in Chesterton, Indiana. Born on May 8, 1954, in La Porte, Indiana, Bruce was a man of unwavering commitment and a true craftsman. He was well-known for his work as a carpenter, where his perfectionist tendencies shone through in every project he undertook.

Bruce was a devoted family man whose greatest joy stemmed from spending time with his loved ones. He created lasting memories while fishing and camping, particularly during treasured trips to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, Cadillac, and Hastings where he shared his passion for the outdoors with his wife, Shelley. His spirit thrived in nature, where he enjoyed the calming moments by the water, casting lines alongside family and friends.

In addition to his deep appreciation for family time, Bruce had a fondness for collecting antique fishing lures during visits to antique stores, further highlighting his love for fishing. Each lure represented more than just a collectible - it symbolized his dedication to the sport and the memories forged with those he held dear.

Bruce is survived by his beloved wife, Shelley; his daughter, Kasey (David) Wilson; brother Randall "Randy" Harris (Patti); step-brother, Scott Mingery; step-sister, Pam Connelly; and granddaughters, Brittney and Lindsay; brother-in-law Marc (Tayna) Toblaski.

He now joins his late father, William Harris; mother, Dolores Mignery; step-father, Richard (Dick) Mignery; and step-sister, Sandy Korbly; bother-in-law Cary (Gail) Tobalski, in eternal peace. Bruce's legacy of love, craftsmanship, and devotion to family will continue to resonate within the hearts of those he leaves behind. His memory will be forever cherished and celebrated.

Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, IN. Cremation has taken place. A private family gathering will take place at a later date.
