Carl Martensen

Mr. Carl F Martensen, age 83, of Cassopolis, Mich., died 2:35 PM Saturday, September 1, 2007, at his home in Cassopolis, Mich. He was born June 14, 1924 in Union Twp., LaPorte County, Indiana to the late Carl Martensen and the late Edith Dewitt Martensen. Mr. Martensen was a Self-employed farmer and drove a truck for 10 years he retired in 2001. He was a member of Penn Friends Church of Cassopolis, Mich. He was also a member of the Draft Horse Club Assoc. and Newton Park Assoc. He loved horses and he showed horses at the County Fair. On October 21, 1944 in LaPorte, Ind. he married Doris Wilberta Huge who survives. He is also survived by his Four Daughters, Mrs. Sharon Ray Welburn of Jones, Mich. Mrs. Karen Scott Harris of Edwardsburg, Mich., Mrs. Sheri John Jessup of Marcellus, Mich., Mrs. Cheryl Dennis Howton of Marcellus, Mich.; Three Sons, Mr. Larry Mary Martensen of Bossier City, La., Mr. James Deloris Martensen of Decatur, Mich., Mr. Charles Cindy Martensen of Dowagiac, Mich.; Twenty Five grandchildren; Eighteen great-grandchildren; Three Sisters, Mrs. Helen Bennitt of La Porte, Ind., Mrs. Lois Vernon Markley of Avon Park, Fla., Mrs. Doris Melvin Bennitt of Sebring, Fla.; and One Brother, Mr. Herbert Lillie Martensen of Montgomery, Texas. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. The family will receive friends at the Penn Friends Church, 19107 Quaker St., Cassopolis, Mich. from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM EDT Thursday, September 6, 2007 and from the Haverstock Funeral Home from 11:00 AM Friday until time of the service. Funeral service will be at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc. at 11:00 AM Friday, September 7, 2007, Scott Northrop officiating. Interment will be at Kingsbury Cemetery in Kingsbury, Ind.
