Chester Jones

The funeral for Mr. Chester W. Jones, 95, of 4261 N. U.S. 35, La-Porte, will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Haverstock Funeral Home, LaPorte, with Rev. Fred Miller Sr., officiating. Mr. Jones died Friday, May 7, 2004, at 10:50 p.m. at The Arbors of Michigan City. Friends may call Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 9 a.m. until the service. Burial will be in Tyner Cemetery, Tyner, Ind. Memorial contributions may be made to Meer Road United Baptist Church, c/o Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, IN 46350. He was born Nov. 18, 1908, in Bantry, N.D., to Henry and Isabell Cripe Jones, and had lived most of his life in the LaPorte area. Mr. Jones retired as a punch press operator from New York Blower, La-Porte. He was a member of Meer Road United Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran, stationed in Hawaii as a blacksmith in the 1920s. On Nov. 18, 1933, in Springfield Township, he married Beulah M. Keltz, who died March 1, 1983. On Nov. 19, 1988, in Michigan City, he married Willo Corish, who died Oct. 1, 1991. On June 11, 1994, in Michigan City, he married Alberta Hill, who survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Linda Robert Kuchik of Michigan City; two sons, Donald J. Wilma of Valparaiso and Ronald F. Marcella of Plymouth; six stepdaughters, Florence Bush of Denver, Esther Piper of Grand Junction, Colo., Alberta Nichols of Hermiston, Ore., Linda Clark of Michigan City, Karen and Kathy; 26 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; one brother, Lloyd Jones of Louisiana; and his son-in-law, James R. Waller of Spokane, Wash. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Rose Marie Waller; two sisters and four brothers. To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Chester W.
