Christopher L. Wallen
March 14, 1970-June 12, 2025
Christopher L. Wallen, 55, of Kingsford Heights, Indiana, passed away Thursday, June 12, 2025 at Northwest Health-Portage, IN.
He was born March 14, 1970 in La Porte, Indiana, the son of Leonard Wallen and Beverly (White) Wallen.
A lifelong resident of the area, Christopher graduated from La Porte High School, class of 1988. He served in the United States Army, then went to work as the safety director for Hiler Industries, La Porte, IN. Christopher was a past commander and current chaplain of American Legion Post 434, where he was invited to join the exclusive forty + eight club. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge 192 in Westville, IN and a member of the Scottish Rite. Christopher was an avid sports fan who loved watching the Chicago Cubs and the Bears, enjoyed IU basketball, as well as Notre Dame Football. He loved socializing with his friends at the legion, sipping his Bud Light and sharing stories and jokes. At home, his German Shepherds, Opie and Jemma, gave him a lot a joy. His family and friends were his passion and he will be deeply missed by them all.
On September 19, 2014, in Las Vegas, he married Katherene Bowmar, who survives.
He is also survived by his son, Jeffrey Wallen of Rolling Prairie, IN; daughter, Jessica (Randy Berry) Wallen of La Porte, IN; sister, Lois (Ray) Strahler of OH; three grandchildren, Jackson Wallen, Grady Smith, Sebastian Koch and numerous nieces and nephews.
Christopher was preceded in death by his parents; twin sister, Bettye Lange-Wallen; brother, William Wallen and half-brother, Steven Wallen.
Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, IN where the family will receive friends for a viewing on Wednesday June 18, 2025 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm and Thursday, June 19 from 11:00 to 1:00. A Funeral Service and Celebration of his Life will take place at 1:00 at the funeral home, followed by interment at the Pine Lake Cemetery, La Porte, IN.
