Daniel Lee Wheatbrook, 74, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Saturday February 24, 2024 at Brickyard Care Center-La Porte.

 

He was born January 11, 1950 in La Porte, Indiana, the son of Charles Wheatbrook and Dorothy   (Reese) Wheatbrook., both who preceded him in death.

 

A lifelong resident of the area, Daniel graduated in 1968 with the last class at Rolling Prairie High School. He served in the United States Navy Reserves, doing 2 years of construction in various areas. Daniel worked with his dad in the lumber business for many years before opening and operating his own business, Batteries Plus.   On September 12, 1970, in Rolling Prairie, Daniel married the love of his life, Rita Mrozinski. Together, they enjoyed boating on Lake Michigan, taking trips and staying on the boat for months at a time. Daniel also loved his yard work, especially mowing his lawn. Most recently, his greatest passion was enjoying his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who he adored.

 

He is survived by his son, Todd Wheatbrook of La Porte, IN; daughter, Alieshia (Steve) Marvel of Michigan City, IN; two brothers, Tom (Jackie) Wheatbrook of Rolling Prairie, IN, Tim (Paula) Wheatbrook of Rolling Prairie, IN; three grandchildren, Kayla (Nate) Nieto, Zachary Wheatbrook, Jamie Marvel; two great-grandchildren, Aubrey Nieto, Addison Nieto and nieces and nephews. 

 

Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, IN.  Cremation will take place.

 

Memorial contributions may be made in Daniel's name to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation at www.themmrf.org or to a charity of your choice.
