Deborah Raczek Kaur, 80, passed away on Friday, October 30, 2026. Born on September 9, 1946, at Saint Francis Hospital, Blue Island Illinois, Deborah was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose family was always at the center of her life.
Deborah worked as an x-ray technician at Ingalls Memorial Hospital, Harvey, Illinois and at The La Porte Clinic and La Porte Hospital. She later worked at Kabelin Hardware and Kroger, in La Porte, where she enjoyed helping customers and connecting with people in her community.
While Deborah took pride in her work, her greatest joy was her family. She raised four successful children- Joshua, Jean, Zachary, and Stefen -and worked hard to make sure they always had what they needed. Her home was a gathering place for her children's friends, who were always welcome to stop by, stay a while, and find something to eat. She made everyone feel welcome, whether they were stopping by for a quick visit or staying for dinner.
Deborah was also a generous person who believed in helping others. Throughout her life, she supported numerous charitable organizations and was always willing to give to those in need.
Deborah is survived by her beloved husband, James "Jim" Kaur; her children, Joshua (Courtney) Kaur of Colchester, CT, Jean (Bruce) Biesenbach of Saratoga Springs, NY, Zachary (Jennifer) Kaur of Schoolcraft, MI, and Stefen (Megan) Kaur of Crawfordsville, IN; and her eleven grandchildren, Jace, Adalyn, Reid, and Parker Kaur, Larson and Arlo Kaur, Brantley, McKenna, and Spencer Biesenbach, and Everett and Millie Kaur. She is also survived by her sister, Rochelle (David) Ambriz of Monticello, Indiana and her brother, Paul (Danette) Raczek of Frankfort, IL, along with their families.
Deborah was preceded in death by her parents, John and Jean (Glim) Raczek; and two brothers, John and Tom Raczek.
A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m., Saturday, November 21, 2026 at Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave, La Porte, Indiana with Deacon Bob Wellinski officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time-of-service Saturday at the funeral home.
Deborah will be remembered for the home she created, the family she raised, and the kindness she showed to those around her. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
A special thank you is extended to Franciscan Hospice and the staff at Brickyard Healthcare, "I" Street, for the wonderful care and love shown to Deborah and her family through the end. In this time of remembrance, we invite all who knew Deborah to join us in honoring her legacy of love, laughter, and generosity.
