Delores Beckham

The funeral for Delores E. Beckham, 83, of 104 Eastwood Ave., LaPorte, will be Tues. May 11, 2004, at 2:00 p.m. at the Haverstock Funeral Home, LaPorte, with the Rev. Cindy Barnum-Steggerda officiating. She died Monday, May 3, 2004, at 2:05 p.m. at her residence. Friends may call Monday, May 10, 2004, from 5 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the service. Burial will be in Rolling Prairie Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to VNA Hospice of LaPorte Co. or the Church of the Brethren. She was born June 3, 1920, in Rolling Prairie, IN. to Herbert and Alice Jones Bayer, and has lived in the LaPorte area most of her life. Mrs. Beckham managed the Deluxe Drive-In for 18 years; she also worked at Levine?s Boston Store and Greg?s Candyland. She had bee a crossing guard for the LaPorte City Police Department for nearly 12 years. She was a member of the Church of the Brethren. On March 11, 1938, in North Liberty, IN. she married Edgar M. Beckham, who died January 13, 2001. Also preceding her in death were her parents and one brother Earl Bayer. Surviving are two sons, Wayne Beckham of LaPorte, IN., Laurel Beckham of Knox, IN.; two daughters, Alice Hall and Bertha Adams both of LaPorte, IN.; eight grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; one brother, Raymond Bayer of Alvin, TX; and one sister, Joyce Yazel of Arlin TX.
