Ed Cotton

Mr. Ed Cotton, age 83, of La Porte, Ind., died 6:22 PM Wednesday, September 12, 2007, at LaPorte Hospital in La Porte, Ind. He was born September 12, 1924 in West Parish, LA. to the late Alfred Cotton and the late Martha Jones Cotton. He has live in LaPorte since 1993 coming from Chicago, IL. Mr. Cotton was a Brick Mason in the Chicago area for 43 years and retired in 1990. He was a member of House of Praise. He loved gardening, hunting and traveling and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He was married in Chicago, IL. to Nancy Davis who preceded in death August 16, 1975. He remarried on May 30, 2000 in LaPorte, Ind. to Mattie V. Dunlap who survives. He is also survived by his Daughters, Eddie Mae Cotton of Louisiana, Step-daughter-Evelyn Weddle of La Porte, Ind.; Step-son-Derek Crews of Indianapolis, Ind.; Two grandchildren; Nine Step Grandchildren, Ten great-grandchildren; Two Sisters, Louise Bailey of LaPorte, Ind., Martha Perry of Memphis, Tenn.; Two Brothers, Willie Boyd of LaPorte, Ind., George Boyd of Olmsted, Ill.; Aunt, Mary Harris, and a host of other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his Parents, Wife, Daughter, Loretta Purdue, One Brother and Seven Sisters. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind., where the family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM Sunday, September 16, 2007 and from 10:00 AM Monday until time of the Service. Funeral service will be at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc. at 11:00 AM Monday, September 17, 2007, Rev. Margaret J. Hunt officiating. Interment will be at Patton Cemetery in LaPorte, Ind.
