Elaine Quirk Hyde, 89, of La Porte, IN, passed away Sunday, October 23, 2022 at the Robins Nest in Mill Creek, IN.
She was born August 5, 1933 in Mill Creek, Indiana, the daughter of Clayton Monroe Miller and Myrtle Hostetler.
Elaine was a wax inspector for Howmet for 26 years before retiring in 1991. On September 29, 1951, she married Glen Quirk, Sr , who preceded her in death on September 11, 1993. Together they had 6 children. She later met and married the late William Hyde and she lived with him in Sebring, Florida from 2003 to 2019. Elaine was a member of the Hudson Lake Church of Christ in Indiana and The Sebring Christian Church in Florida, where she was an active member of the Women's group. Elaine loved gardening, both flowers and vegetables, which she canned. She enjoyed lunching and hanging out with her friends but her special pride and joy were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Elaine is survived by her daughter, Linda M. (Dan) Jarvie of Cleveland, TX; four sons, Glen J. Quirk of New Carlisle, IN, Kenneth L. (Juanita) Quirk of La Porte, IN, Michael A. (Pam) Quirk of New Carlisle, IN, Jeffrey P. Quirk of Cleveland, TX; sister Ada V. Anderson of Jacksonville, FL; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandson and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mabel was preceded in death by her parents; first husband Glen Quirk; second husband, William Hyde; son, Gregory C. Quirk; sister, LaVonne Miller; brothers, Phillip, Keith and Wayne Miller and great-grandson, William.
Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN. Cremation will take place. A Celebration of her Life and burial of cremated remains will take place next year in August.
