Evelyn Eckstein

Mrs. Evelyn M. Eckstein, age 85, of Walkerton, Ind., died 4:25 AM Thursday, January 25, 2007, at Southfield Village in South Bend, Ind. She was born January 23, 1922 in Grovertown, Ind. to the late Otto Loepke and the late Marie Schwerda Loepke. She has lived in the Walkerton area since 1971 coming from LaPorte, Ind. Mrs. Eckstein was employed by Holiday Inn and was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church. She loved to garden, cook, bake, canning play Bunco and Bingo and loved to play card games with her granddaughter. On July 16, 1949 in Elgin, Ill. she married Jake Conrad who preceded her in death November 16, 1964. She remarried December 13, 1970 in Kentucky to Joe Eckstein who preceded August 4, 1988. She is survived by her Two Daughters, Mrs. Alice Jim Meyer of Valparaiso, Ind., Mrs. Donna Golder of Indiana; and One Grandchild, Mikaela Meyer of Valparaiso. She is preceded in death by her parents; Two Husbands; Four Brothers; and Two Sisters. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind., where the family will receive friends from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM Saturday, January 27, 2007. Funeral service will be at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc. at 2:00 PM Saturday, January 27, 2007, Father James P. Jones officiating. Interment will be at Pine Lake Cemetery in LaPorte, Ind.
