Florence J. Nickels September 19, 1928-May 15, 2013 Mr. Florence J. Nickels, 84, of Chicago, Illinois, died Wednesday May 15, 2013 at Swedish Covenant Hospital in Chicago, IL. She had lived in the LaPorte area, since 1992, coming from Chicago, Illinois. She was born September 19, 1928 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Louis Wlodarski and Clara (Stermer) Wlodarski. Florence worked fourteen years for Becker Answering Service, retiring in 1992. On June 6, 1953, in Chicago, IL, she married Richard Nickels who preceded her in death August 14, 2010. She is survived by her son - Michael (Christine) Nickels of Chicago, IL; 2 daughters - Janet Majewski of Tucson, AZ, and Louise (Rafael) Cerpa of Chicago, IL; eight grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren; 3 sisters - Dorothy Wilder of Hudson, FL, Lorraine Abraham of Chicago, IL, and Judith Stechman of Surprise, AZ. Florence was preceded in death by her parents, husband and son, Peter Nickels. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends Saturday, May 18, 2013 from 12:00 pm - 6:00 pm. A life celebration will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Saturday May 18, 2013 at 6:00 pm with Father Ian Williams, officiating. A graveside service with burial of ashes, will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2013 at 12:00 pm in the Pine Lake Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Family of Florence J. Nickels.
