Frank Rokosz

Frank J Rokosz, 82, of Rolling Prairie, Indiana, passed away Sunday, November 30, 2025 at Hamilton Communities, Inc. in New Carlisle, IN. 

He was born May 24, 1943 in East Chicago, IN, the son of Frank Rokosz and Wanda Cynthia (Langer) Rokosz. 

Frank graduated from Hammond High School, class of 1961, and went on to get his BA from Ball State and his Masters in Education from Purdue North Central. He was a high school teacher with the New Prairie United School Corp for 40 years, retiring in 2005. On July 24, 1976, in New Carlisle, IN, Frank married the love of his life, Nancy Abbott, who survives. Along with teaching Sociology, American Literature and US History, he loved hunting, fishing and reading great novels, both fiction and non-fiction. He was a big Chicago Cubs and Bears fan and an avid toy train collector. He played the accordion and the saxophone and especially loved polkas and big family parties. Frank was a traditional man who believed in giving back to his community through his memberships in the New Carlisle Lion's Club and the Saugany Lake Conservation Club. His spirit will live on through his family, and the multiple generations of students whose lives he touched every day.

 Along with his loving wife of 49 years, Frank is survived by his son, David F. Rokosz of Rolling Prairie; daughter, Cynthia K. Rokosz of Rolling Prairie; brother, Raymond (Lucy) Rokosz of Schererville, IN; grandson, Eric Gregory Buell; granddaughter, Katlyn Marie Rokosz and 3 nephews.

 Frank was preceded in death by his parents and baby brother, Gregory Rokosz.

 Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, IN where the family will receive friends for a visitation on Monday, December 8, 2025 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 6:00. Interment will be private.

 Along with flowers, Memorial contributions may be made in his name to either the New Carlisle Lion's Club or the Saugany Lake Conservation Club.
