George W. Smith, 87, of Plymouth, Indiana, passed away Saturday October 29, 2022 at his home with his family by his side.

George was born October 12, 1935 in Bremen, Indiana, the son of Henry Smith and Flora Mae (Lock) Smith.

George was a member and an elder of the Plymouth Jehovah's Witness Congregation. He was a man with had many interests enjoying nature, cutting wood, and working in his garden. He managed to place a smile on everyone's face he met and was known as being a bit of a jokester. At times people needed his help and he made sure they always had a home to come to. He was a true family man and loved them very much. He will be truly missed by many. He worked for many years as a Union Carpenter and Lather. Later he worked as a janitor at LaVille Jr.-Sr. High School.

George is survived by his wife; three sons, Michael (Karen) Smith of La Paz, IN, Jeffery Smith of Plymouth, IN, Carlos Estrada of South Bend, IN; two daughters, Mary Hedges of Georgetown, TX, Michelle Hedges of Winimac, IN; brother, Herman Smith of Walpahu, HI; sister, Clara Mae Pipper of Bremen, IN and numerous grandchildren who were greatly loved.

George was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Robert and Carl Smith, and a sister, Joann Guild.

Arrangements are being entrusted to Nusbaum-Elkin Funeral Home 408 Roosevelt Road Walkerton, IN 46574.
