Gerald Scalf Sr.

Mr. Gerald L. Scalf Sr., 68, of 6245 Hwy. 90W, Pocahontas, Ark., formerly of La-Porte, died Wednesday, June 2, 2004 at St. Bernard?s Hospital, Jonesboro, Ark. He had lived in the Pocahontas area since 1959. He was born Oct. 23, 1935, in West Ridge, Ark., to Samuel Thomas and Delora Scalf. Mr. Scalf was a press operator at Budd Co., a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean Conflict, a member of the Steelworkers Union, Moose Lodge of Pocahontas and Eagles Lodge of LaPorte. On April 9, 1966, in LaPorte, he married Joanna Beason, who preceded him in death. Surviving are two sons, Gerald L. Jr. Lisa Spencer of LaPorte and John Samuel of Virginia; one daughter, Mrs. Evelyn Kay Rick Savage of Acworth, Ga.; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three brothers, Samuel Larry, Henry George and Gary Wayne, all of LaPorte; one sister, Sharon Kunkle of Evening Shade, Ark.; one sister-in-law, Madge of Bono, Ark. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Henry Wayne, and one brother, Dudley. A graveside service will be con ducted June 26, at 1:30 p.m. a Union Mills Cemetery, with military honors. There will be no visitation. Memorial contributions may be made to the organization of the donor?s choice. The Haverstock Fu neral Home provided information.
