Harry Rheinholtz, Jr., 89, of La Porte, IN, died Sunday, August 14, 2011 at his home. He was born February 7, 1922 in LaPorte, Indiana, the son of Harry Rheinholtz, Sr. and Elsie (Schweder) Rheinholtz. Harry was part owner/ contractor for M.R.S. Construction for 21 years, retiring in 2002. He was a member of Salem Chapel United Methodist Church. US Army Veteran during WWII. and was honored to have placed a wreath on the tomb of the Unknown Soldier in the Arlington Cemetery, in Washington DC. He was a life member of the VFW and member of the American Legion. Harry was a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenter's Union for 65 years. On October 25, 1946 in LaPorte, Indiana, he married Evelyn J. (Harmon) Rheinholtz who preceded in death on March 19, 2000. On June 1, 2001 in LaPorte, Indiana at the Salem Chapel United Methodist Church, he married Marian (Rosenbaum) Rheinholtz, who survives. He is survived by his son - Samuel (Patricia) Mannen of Lakeland, FL; two step-sons - David (Dot) Decker of Hamlet, IN, Douglas Decker of La Porte, IN; step-daughter - Robin (Bob) Kay of Peoria, IL; thirteen loving grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; one brother - Raymond Rheinholtz of Stillwell, IN; three sisters - Evelyn Shuta of La Porte, IN, Norma Zeimet of La Porte, IN, Dolores Allen of Fish Lake, IN; and many loving nieces and nephews. Harry was preceded in death by his parents; 1st wife; son, Robert Mannen, one brother, and two sisters. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. There will be no visitation. A Memorial Service will be held at the Salem Chapel United Methodist Church on Saturday, August 20, 2011 at 11:00am with Pastor Bob Raschka, officiating. Burial of ashes will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the VNA Hospice of LaPorte P.O. Box 250 LaPorte, IN 46350.
