Obituary

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Hermelinda "Linda" López, a cherished mother, grandmother, and beloved friend. Born on November 6, 1977, in Cuscatlan, El Salvador, Linda brought warmth and love into the lives of all who knew her. She departed from this world on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, after a battle with ALS, leaving behind a legacy of laughter and compassion in La Porte, Indiana.

Linda was a dedicated production worker at Alpha Baking Company, Inc., where her hard work and commitment were a testament to her character. She possessed an innate wisdom that enriched the lives of her family and friends. A long-time member of St. Joseph Catholic Church - Holy Family Parish, she found solace and community within her faith, actively participating in parish life.

As a mother, Linda was a beacon of love and dedication. She is survived by her mother, Lucinda Miranda Vda. de López; her adoring children: Jason (Mailen) Salazar of Kingsford Heights, Indiana, Stephanny (Brooklyn) Salazar, Anthony Díaz, Kevin Díaz and Jaime Díaz all of La Porte, Indiana. She leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Josiah Salazar and Emiliano Salazar, who brought immense joy to her life. Linda will be missed by her grand-dog, Kobe. Also surviving are her siblings, Ana Julia López Miranda, Dina López de Portillo, María Magdalena López López, Maria de los Angles Miranda, and José Carlos López Miranda.

Linda was preceded in death by her father, Bernabé López.

Linda had a passion for arts and crafts, cooking with her children, and creating beautiful memories that will last a lifetime. Her laughter and infectious spirit brought joy to everyone around her, and her ability to uplift those she encountered will be remembered fondly by all.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesday, November 4, 2026 and from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., Thursday, November 5, 2026 at Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects and celebrate Linda's vibrant life. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 a.m., Thursday, November 5, 2026 at St. Joseph Catholic Church - Holy Family Parish, 109 C Street, La Porte, Indiana with Rev. Roque Meraz officiating.

We welcome everyone to join us in honoring Linda's memory and the love she so freely shared. In this time of loss, may we find comfort in one another and in the cherished memories of Linda López, a true embodiment of love and resilience.
